SHATTERED

SHATTERED

he rails exhaustedly

against

the unrelenting night -

shattered

by restlessness

he groans

a welcome

to a new daybreak

prays that it's not

an uninvited dream -

still rails against

the unrelenting night

then collapses

into sleep
