Today the High Court found an excuse to prevent the CWU from taking strike action in spite of the ballot receiving 97% support for their action!
The two poems below date from October 2017 when the Tory High Court previously ruled against these workers rights.

Magic & High Court ruling
I've just unearthed this (poetic tirade) amongst a pile of rough drafts - I still rage against the same governing party .....
Listening to Archie Shepp 'The Magic of
Ju-Ju'
( a response after hearing news
of Tory High Court clampdown
on CWU right to strike}
the rage and fury
bursts
straight through my
anger
diverts my impotent
rage
grants a directional
force
the struggle
continues
as more is stolen
from the poorest
their power and
pride
screams out

My draft poem’Towards an Autocratic State ’ was also a response to the same
court ruling:

if only I could be a Tory - verse
just a piece of heartfelt light verse!
If only I could be a Tory
Wish I was a heartless bastard
life could be so sweet
I'd believe the mainstream
papers
and kick beggars in the street
Wish I was a mindless sod
'cos I could be so mean
believing news from the BBC
and worshipping the Queen
Wish I was a selfish git
without a thought or care
I'd join the Tory party
laugh at the poor's despair
Wish I was a heartless sod
knowing nowt but playing God

Towards An Autocratic State - a poem (impromptu response to a High Court ruling)
Towards An
Autocratic State
(apropos the ruling against the CWU)
Greater love hath no judge
than to lay down the law
against the working man –
Thou shalt not interfere
with the profiteers
whom we have gifted with
these former assets
of the nation state

How to become President
How to become President
get what you can
by any means
you can
if at first
you don’t succeed
throw a tantrum
until they yield
to your demand

IN CAMERA - The Dutschke Premise
IN
CAMERA
(The
Dutschke Premise)
The
roving camera
hides
its head
but
speaks its mind
in camera -
exposing
future threats
a
kind
of
esoteric time
exposure.
The
faceless voices
sing
their song
of
freedom -
ignoring
the Amen.
Malcolm Evison
15 January 1971
written as my response to the secret hearings
leading to the expulsion of Rudi Dutschke a student
at Clare Hall, Cambridge University, who had earlier
survived an assassination attempt in his home country.
Poem originally published 22 January 1971 in 'Tribune'.
